Acoustic neurinoma is a tumour of vestibular nerve. It usually grows slowly. Unilateral tinnitus and hearing loss are the main symptoms. It is usually diagnosed with imaging techniques. Hearing tests are obtained as well.
Treatment depends on the age of the patient and the size of the tumour.
Turbinate hypertrophy
There are 3 or 4 turbinates in each side of the nose. They heat and humidify the air that goes to the lungs. Inferior turbinates are responsible for chronic stuffy nose in some patients. These turbinates may grow due to different causes such as allergy and nasal septal deviation.
Turbinate hypertrophy (swollen turbinate) is diagnosed by history, physical exam and imaging techniques. It is treated medically or surgically. Recently radiofrequency is the most popular surgical approach to treat turbinate hypertrophy. Laser is another surgical option for these cases.
