The glands are found in and around your mouth and throat. Salivary glands are divided into two groups: minor and major glands. Salivary gland masses are usually benign tumors. Patients may apply with only a swelling on his cheek or under his or her jaw without any other symptoms. Malignant tumors of the major salivary glands can grow quickly, may be painful, and can cause loss of movement of part or all of the affected side of the face. These symptoms should be immediately investigated.
Your doctor usually obtain imaging techniques and needle biopsy to make diagnosis. Treatment depends on final diagnosis of the mass.
